KBV Nuns on Alms Round (Piṇḍapāta)
At the time of the Buddha, spiritual seekers walked with their bowls to collect alms food in order to sustain their bodies. This ancient practice continues to this day in Southeast Asia. For many people, it is inspiring simply to see bhikkhus and bhikkhunis walking in silence with their bowls; and they find the experience of offering food into the alms bowls inspiring and uplifting. Following this tradition, the nuns of KBV are returning to this practice in Mountain View. You are welcome to find them anywhere along the route (see below).
The nuns will walk for alms at the Mountain View Farmer's Market at 10:00 am and have the meal at Pioneer Memorial Park, eating what they receive in their bowls. There will be time for questions and Dhamma discussion afterwards.
Please bring blankets/cushions as you need for sitting on the grass at the park. Social distancing will be observed while sitting together.
