This is our opportunity to practice conscientious compassion in community on our streets. We will walk together in solidarity raising awareness among our neighbors about chronic hunger and malnutrition around the world; and raising funds to support sustainable projects to end them. Mindful walking, generosity, listening to inspiring talks, and making spiritual friends are great ways to heal, brighten, and develop the mind as taught by the Buddha. Everyone is invited to attend this uplifting event. Viewing the photos from last year will give you some idea of the spirit of the Walk.
People are welcome to join-in or depart as they need during the five-mile walk. Everyone is encouraged to set a personal intention before walking; those who wish to walk mindfully in silence may do so but it is not required. It will be a time for contemplative practice, mindful walking, spreading loving kindness, and making spiritual friends. It will be a pilgrimage of harmony, walking with like-minded friends, as we visit The Vietnamese Bhikkhuni Buddhist Congregation (Tinh Xa Ngoc Hoa) and the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin. We will also be stopping at Plaza de Cesar Chavez, a happy place where the local community comes together.
