We look forward to sharing this joyful time in community with you all, whether you attend online or in-person. In person we will be joined again by Ayya Santacitta and Ayya Anandabodhi from Aloka Vihara Forest Monastery. Ajahn Kovilo from Clear Mountain Monastery and Bhante Jayasara (who plans to start a monastery in Colorado) will join us via Zoom.
Donations to the 2022 Almsgiving Ceremony (“Kathina”)
This past year, we were able to make several major building and infrastructure improvements for the hermitage, as well as one new 10'X12' kuti, the workshop, a bridge, the second large water tank, and the UTV purchase. We also had the large parcel of KBV's hermitage properly surveyed to make sure all the new buildings will be fully on KBV property. The building of the elder's cottage is scheduled to begin this October. This year, the proceeds of the Almsgiving will support the following projects:
Main house power system upgrade

Main house power system upgrade
- The batteries for storing electricity from the generator and solar panels are not keeping up with current needs. The Hermitage relies on these for all electricity needs. Lithium batteries and a larger inverter need to be purchased and professionally installed.
- Located up on a high spot with good sun, with solar panels and a battery station that will send generate enough electricity to supply the new kutis.
- Our small spring usually runs dry by late summer. There are plans to explore the possibility of a well to ensure this basic need of a reliable water supply.
- The main house is heated mainly by a woodstove in winter. A mechanical wood-splitter makes the work of turning large trees into firewood much easier.
If you would like to make a financial contribution, please visit our donations page. There is also a GoFundMe campaign where you can donate and follow fundraising progress. If you would like to provide other items of support, please go to our Kathina Wish List. Anumodana!
