Rise for Climate, Jobs & Justice

Picture
Saturday, September 8
9:15 am to approximately 12:00 pm
Climate Change March: Rise for Climate, Jobs & Justice
Marching with the interfaith contingent organized by Interfaith Power & Light
Ferry Park, San Francisco (see link above to register & for more march details)

"We demand Real Climate Leadership, which requires:
  • Environmental, racial, and economic justice for all
  • No new fossil fuel development and a managed decline of existing fossil fuel production
  • A just transition to 100% renewable energy that protects workers, Indigenous peoples and frontline communities — both in these extractive industries and more broadly — and ensures family-sustaining jobs with the right to unionize, that are safe for people and the planet
  • Just and equitable resiliency and recovery efforts led by the communities most impacted;
By acting together, we can end the era of fossil fuels and save the climate we all depend on."     --Rise for Climate, Jobs & Justice

"Join us as we call for strong action at the RISE march for Climate, Jobs & Justice in San Francisco on Saturday morning, September 8, 2018. We, along with thousands from faith communities and tens of thousands from Indigenous people, frontline communities, youth, elders, people of color and neighbors, will march from Embarcadero to Civic Center to demand politicians stand with their communities and deliver more than words just days before the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco."       --Interfaith Power and Light

We plan to join our sisters from Aloka Vihara in participating in Interfaith Power and Light's program at the march, starting with meditation and interfaith prayer services. Hope to see you there!
(stay tuned for our new meditation center address)
